But you don't like 3.95? Why not just convert to that. It's pretty much the same as 3.9. You could just copy your profile over and everything.

To add your songs without having multiple song folders for different sm versions:
Just go into Data/stepmania.ini and put:

AdditionalSongFolders=Wherever your songs are

for example:
AdditionalSongFolders=c:\program files\stepmania cvs\songs

It was made possible with 3.95. My guess is that 3.9 can't support it, so they made 3.95 to do it, along with the whole bunch of other things they threw into it.

3.95 wasnt an official SM release.
iirc, it was made between itg 1 and 2.

3.95 is pretty much 3.9 with support for rolls.

SO in answer to your question 'how do i get rolls in 3.9'
the answer is 'get 3.95'

Perhaps you are not reading me correctly here.  THEY MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO 3.9 TO MAKE 3.95, SO THERE IS A WAY TO MAKE 3.9 SUPPORT ROLLS, IT WOULD JUST BE MORE DIFFICULT THAN CHANGING AN INI FILE SOMEWHERE.  IT'S CALLED REAL PROGRAMMING.

Real programming requires access to sourcecode, which most people don't have. Therefore we most probably are limited to changing ini files.

gershon asked how can it be done, which would be via changing the code. possible, yes. likely that any of us know how to, no.

as far as SM sourcecode goes, im quite sure it is available somewhere on the SM site

Barely any keyboard songs have rolls anyway. If you are playing pad files, play them on openitg!
